Reflexology support for stress management
This stress that is becoming so commonplace…it seems to have become normal to “tolerate”…it is now part of our everyday language….…
But what is it that stresses us out?
The sources of stress are numerous and omnipresent:
- life events: marriage, birth, starting school, death of a loved one, job loss, illness, loneliness, moving…
- the external environment: noise, weather, pollution, confinements, pandemic, economic situation, political tensions…
- others: spouse, family, colleagues, friends…
- our thoughts and representations: fears, worries, self-esteem, expectations, perceptions…
Stress… a killer?
Stress, essential for survival, becomes pathogenic when it invades daily life. There are three phases of adaptation:
- the ALERT phase:
this is acute stress. In this case, the organism is able to react quickly, to increase its mental and physical strength tenfold, but also to return to equilibrium - the RESISTANCE phase:
it is the repeated stress, the adaptation phase, the body tries to adapt as well as possible but the return to the balance is not possible any more. Physiological problems appear: migraines, fatigue, anxiety, intestinal problems, heart palpitations, weight gain, hypertension, neck pain, sciatica, etc. - the EXHAUSTION phase:
it is the chronic stress that sets in. The nervous system cannot release the pressure and regulate the physiological mechanisms, the body cannot replenish its resources. More serious problems emerge: deficient immune system, heart attack, stomach ulcer, recurrence of cancer, memory problems, depression, burn-out, etc.
Reflexology to manage stress?
Stress, which is an adaptation reaction, a natural mechanism of our body, can affect everyone in daily life. Its intensity varies from one person to another depending on their personality and their ability to manage the stressful situation. Everyone experiences it through different physical, mental and emotional signs and symptoms.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to silence stress by will alone… Who has never felt powerless when hearing the famous “just let go!”
Reflexology allows a complete and personalized accompaniment of the child, the adolescent, the adult or the senior. Stress is addressed and “tamed” in an individual and adapted way. The number and frequency of sessions depend on the stress level of the person consulting me.
For me, accompanying the person in stress management means
- verbal support: taking a break by putting words to the aches and pains, listening to what the stress has to say, giving you the time and space to clarify your thoughts…
- reflexology: relaxing manipulations, calming the neuro-endocrine system, working on the reflex zones specific to your problems…
so that you feel better, listened to, soothed, more balanced on the physical and emotional level and armed to manage stress.
A new horizon…
